Orchestra Vacancies

The London City Orchestra are always looking for talented musicians to join our orchestra. 

With Monday rehearsals in the City, we produce top quality concerts at venues all over London performing varied and challenging repertoire. We are looking for grade 8+ standard and a good level of orchestral experience and commitment.

We are actively recruiting:​

  • Double basses

  • Strings

  • Brass

 

However welcome applications from all other instruments to join our deps list.

 

Repertoire for our the 2022/23 season includes:

 

  • Strauss - Death and Transfiguration

  • Tchaikovsky - Symphony no. 6

  • Bartok - Concerto for Orchestra

  • Bach - St. John Passion

  • Smyth - The Wreckers

  • Mahler - Symphony no. 1

  • Price - Soul Force

    Rachmaninov - Piano Concerto no.2

 

By way of audition, you will be invited to submit a short pre-recorded video of standard solo repertoire for review by the Musical Director. This is merely to judge if you are able to play to the standard that is achieved within a normal rehearsal and to aid with seating arrangements.

Membership Fees

The fees per term are £85 (standard) and £60 (concession*).

The fees help pay for all the costs of running the orchestra (such as venue hire for rehearsals, website costs, music hire, insurance etc.) as well as the all-important tea and biscuits in our rehearsal breaks!

Please note that the first rehearsal for new members is free, in order to give you a chance to try us out. After that fees are payable by bank transfer (preferable), cheque or cash.

* Concessions are available for students, unemployed or unwaged members.
