Weekly Notices

Attendance:

If you cannot make a rehearsal, you MUST let the Orchestra Manager know with as much notice as possible. There is a guideline maximum of 3 rehearsals missed per term, but we will also assess each situation individually.

Deps:

Woodwind and brass players are requested to arrange their own deps if unable to attend a rehearsal.

If you cannot find someone, do let us know and we will try our list as well.

Kit:

Please make sure to bring a pencil, stand, and your music to each rehearsal. Stands are particularly important as there are no spares in the church!

Fees

LCO has a voluntary tiered fee system based on each person´s professional and personal situation. The lowest tier of fees (per term) begin at £85 (£60 concession per term).

We also aim to sponsor 2 or 3 members per term by offering to waive the fees for that term, to offer everyone the opportunity to play with the orchestra regardless of their financial situation. Whether you are a new or a current LCO member, if you would like to apply for sponsorship, do not hesitate to get in touch with the committee.

The fees help pay for all the costs of running the orchestra (such as venue hire for rehearsals, website costs, music hire, insurance etc.) as well as the all-important tea and biscuits in our rehearsal breaks! To be considered for sponsorship, please get in touch for information about our sponsorship programme.

Please note that the first rehearsal for new prospective members is free, in order to give you a chance to try us out.

Sponsorship

We aim to sponsor 2 or 3 members per term by offering to waive the fees for that term to offer everyone the opportunity to play with the orchestra regardless of their financial situation. Whether you are a new or a current LCO member, if you would like to apply for sponsorship, do not hesitate to get in touch with the committee. While we cover a full term’s fees for you, we expect full attendance to all rehearsals in return, unless specific dates are agreed in advance. Please contact the committee for more details. Sponsorship is offered on a first come first serve basis and is reviewed termly.

Leave of absence

Current members get 2 terms of allowed leave of absence before they must come back (or otherwise the vacancy opens), and then they must do at least further two consecutive terms. For those who have missed 2 or more terms, they will need to re-audition.

Other

All members must be 18+ as we do not hold a CRB check. We are also members of Making Music.
