Join us for an enchanting evening with the London City Orchestra on July 5th, 2025, at 19:30, held at the beautiful St John’s Church in Waterloo

We will be playing:

  • Gabrieli - Canzon in Echo Duodecimi Toni – in this brilliant opening fanfare, hear our brass players play to each other from two opposite balconies in the church.

  • Shostakovich - Cello concerto no. 1 (Soloist - Ferec Necef) – this piece has one of the most memorable openings, with Shostakovich using biting wit to decry Stalin’s oppression as well as writing haunting melodies that touch the soul. We’re delighted that Ferec Necef, an outstanding player, colleague and friend of the orchestra, is our soloist.

  • Rachmaninoff - Symphony no. 2 – this is probably Rachmaninoff’s most overtly romantic symphony with countless moments of sublime climaxes and beautiful melodies. It’s just tune after tune after tune!

Conductor - Thomas Payne
